SINCE CSDE PUBLISHED the C2 Consensus in September 2019, the societal and economic benefits of the Internet of Things (IoT) have only increased, thanks to the explosive growth of the IoT itself. This technological evolution is being fueled by enhanced broadband connectivity, new product innovations and the growing role of digital infrastructure across all domains.

Building on the success of this effort, CSDE now offers these policy principles, endorsed by 27 leading technology and security organizations, to inform governments about constructive paths to raise the market’s expectations for security and advance policy harmonization. This guide should inform policymakers across the globe as they contemplate diverse regulatory and policy approaches to secure the IoT, such as legislation, certification and labeling, or other requirements.
